Two dead in Djibouti-Eritrea border clash-witness

DJIBOUTI, June 11 (Reuters) - Two Djiboutian soldiers were killed and 21 wounded when troops clashed with Eritrean forces along their border overlooking strategic Red Sea shipping lanes, Djibouti said on Wednesday.

The clashes took place on Tuesday in the Ras Doumeira area where Eritrean troops reportedly carried out an incursion on April 16, sparking tensions between the two Horn of Africa neighbours.

"During the pursuit of an Eritrean deserter who tried to rally the Djiboutian armed forces, the Eritrean military opened fire on our units at around 12:30am [0930 GMT]," the Djioutian army said in a statement.

"The Djiboutian armed forces retaliated with their weapons."
The army said that Eritrean military officials then issued an ultimatum for Djibouti to return all 30 Eritrean deserters on its soil or face armed action.

"At 6:40pm [1540 GMT], under the cover of darkness and prayer time, Eritrean troops opened fire on our soldiers," the statement said.

Of course the Eritrean forces are like the Al Shabaab , they never loose anybody in war and nobody is allowed to report on them ,w hich explains the high rate of desertion {30} amongst their rank @ first contact
Death to all Xabush !
Death to these Xabush , wether they are Ethiopians or Eritreans the Xabush are the poison of the Horn of Africa.

Djibouti is in bed with the Ethiopians

Djibouti facilitates the importation of ethiopian arms to be used against Somalia.

Djibouti is the base of all airstrikes against Somalia

Sahan,

Again, where do u see me supporting Eritrea in this thread ? All I am doing is pointing out Djibouti's faults.

Read carefully instead of coming around and making sweeping generalizations.

Sahan,

Saxiib,

1. Where was Djibouti's Somalinimo when those aircraft take off from Djibouti to launch those attacks ? Every AC-130 gunship that killed hundreds every night in Xamar in 1993 flew from Djibouti. Even today, every airstrike is coordinated and launched from Djibouti

2. Where was Djibouti's Somalinimo when Ethiopian weaponry is imported via the Port and sent to Addis Ababa knowing very well that those weapons are going to be used against Somalis in Somali Galbeed and Somalia ?

3. Where was Djibouti's Somalinimo when it turned a blind eye to what was going on in Xamar and refused to publically speak of the massacre & occupation ?

im in djibouti and i can tell you theres a lot more people injured cos the helicopters havent stop coming in all day. the main damage was caused by an eritrean naval ship but it was destroyed at dawn.

the fighting is now going on at the eritrean border and the french have decided to get involved this morning.

thats how things are for now...
