I agree. I think when it comes to written language all dialects should be written the same, or atleast all words should have a correct way of spelling it, day in and day out do I see all kinds of spelling, I mean imagine if we could just do that with english, spell words the way we feel they sound out, how retarded would that be?

Trust me , if you make the effort you can understand.
Still we're way better off than a whole lot of African nationals who can only write and talk to each other in either French or English , or like them fu.ckin Xabuush who have imposed amarhina on the rest of the populus as official language .

Fah,
Tell them bro. Those of us who went school for somali language always write the same regardless of our accents. But if you only know Somali by speaking, then you will rather write ebonics and that is what we always see here in SNET.

because every one knew how to read and write quran or arabic.
would be easier to learn.
my grand father Allah yarhamah never learned to read or write somali written in latin.
i heard he used only arabic to write or read somali.

Indeed.

There are definite advantages for writing Somali in the Latin script. Not only is the script easier to learn and master, its quicker to write and use. One particular gripe I have about the way we use the script to write Somali are the double vowels (aa, ee, ii, oo, uu) which are cumbersome. I think it makes the transition over to English easier, as you have some basic knowledge of the orthography already. One only needs to modify the sounds, and begin learning proper English spelling and grammar. The modern world revolves around English it seems, and with billions in India and China learning it as a second language, it will continue to be the Lingua Franca of tomorrow.
