How do you Type?

A few weeks ago I realized that I have a bad habit when I type. I can type fast and I do it blindly, but I only use 2 to 4 fingers though, but again I type faster than average. Now that I realize it, I feel retarded u know what I mean? My dad used to push to me to these typing courses in high school where you learn to use all 10 fingers blindly. I refused, b/c typing courses were considered to be for nerds and girls only. I mean seriously what did these ppl learn? How to push the shift button with your left pink? Is that important to you? Does that make your life complete mothaphuker? I can understand if you aspire to become a secretary or any other job that requires you to type another man's work and not get credit for it like the slave you chose to be, but come on now.

i learned how to type blindly in grade 3 and 4 but that was only in arabic.
when it comes to english is totally different case.
i have to think a lot before i type it's harf: haa or H in english.lol

I type with 6 fingers ( my index, middle and ring fingers) and I use my thumb to press the space button every now and then. I rarely used my pinky fingers though ( just to press caps lock/shift/enter button when need be) and I've never taken any typing classes either.

Starscream:- I actually took one of those online course which help you with typing. I know, I'm such a girl. I can type quite fast using 6 fingers only. I've learned to use my thumb when striking the space bar, however, I haven't learned to use my two pinkies. To be honest, I don't use my pinkies at all, they're just there for decoration purposes it seems. For example, when drinking from a cup, it's become a habit to lift my pinky up in the air, most people think I'm trying to be posh lol, but it's just some weird habit.

I don't know how people type with 2/4 fingers. That must be incredibly uncomfortable.

wow, at age 13? I wasn't even allowed on the internet at that age. I was told it's an evil tool to corrupt young minds.

I've typed with 2/4 fingers previously, it's not that uncomfortable.

I'm thinking about giving those online courses a try, a lot better than those intense typing classes at intermediate school after class. I was kinda venting in my topicpost, b/c of the frustration of not being able to type as fast with 6 or more fingers. Using my thumb to hit the space bar feels unnatural to me, I use my middlefinger. But I hope this is a case of practice makes perfect, I hope the online courses won't take too long, preferably before the summer ends.

My goal is to use 6 fingers like you and Ashlee.

Which brings me to my next question for you folks: does it look stupid when one types with two fingers? Be honest! I can take it.

I only use my left hands index finger, my right hands index, midle and ring finger.
It's like the other fingers on my left hand are stiff.

Firefly, i lift my pinky up aswell although people tell me it's an homosexual trait, i do my best not to do it but the more i try forcing my self not to do it, the more i end up doing it.

Lifting your pinky up when holding something with your other 4 fingers is natural, your brain commands your pinky to do it in order to reduce tension in the palm, giving relief to the muscles in your hand.

Try touching your four fingers except your pinky, you'll feel the difference when you move with your pinky inward and outward.

Starscream:- I think you should give online courses a try, I really recommend it. It's definately a case of "practice makes perfect." You also learn how to correct your posture, which has health benefits. The online courses don't take long - the good thing about it is you'll work on your own pace - it all depends on you, you decide how long/ and what exactly you want to gain from it. Personally, I did feel kind of stupid when I used 2/4 fingers, and everyone around me could type like professionals. But I'm still not there yet, I still need to work on my pinkies.
