Religious leaders in Mogadishu have expressed their concern about the closure of more than 30 mosques in the city and urged the residents to embark on re-opening of the mosques.

There are about 30 mosques that are closed in Mogadishu, some of them having been turned into bases for Ethiopian troops, while in some others; the neighborhoods have been deserted by residents due to the frequent fighting in the areas they are located in.

Religious leaders have asked the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia [TFG] to respect areas of worship and educational institutions urging them [the government] to facilitate the withdrawal of Ethiopian troops from the sites.

The religious leaders have asked the civilians to take part in re-opening of the mosques.

Sheikh Mowlid Ahmad Nor who performs the call for prayer in the Jilu Sahaba mosque in the neighborhood of Howl Wadag has called for the re-opening of the mosques urging the TFG to remove Ethiopian troops from the mosques where they have established bases.

Ethiopian troops are said to have established themselves in some of the most famous mosques in Mogadishu.

Deserted mosques across the Somalia capital Mogadishu, which have been either closed for turned into garbage dumps by Ethiopian troops.

Home to about 10 million largely impoverished people, Somalia has lacked almost all the trappings of a functional state, such as national systems of education, healthcare and justice, for the past 16 years.

Warlords had controlled the capital of the Horn of Africa country since the 1991 overthrow of President Mohamed Siad Barre but they have been expelled by the Islamic courts union fighters.

But the Somalis started enjoying rare moments of peace and security since the Islamic Courts rose to power by capturing Mogadishu and other key areas in June from the US-backed warlords.

More then 30 mosques closed which shows the Anti-Islamic nature of the Ethiopian occupation, and the murtad identity of the Somali collaborators which justifies the killing and relentless hunting down of these socalled ''muslims'' to wherever they may hide.

Ilahay ka cabso and don't make takfiir on these people because takfiir is a very serious issue. The TFG are corrupt, committing major sins and some of them could very well be murtad but that is for the scholars to do and not the general population. If one of us calls another a kaffir and it is not the case that it is it comes back to us

The Ethiopian went to one of my all time favorite city in Somalia and levelled it to the ground and you guys are talking about the people who brought these filthy Amxaaro to our country aren't murtads..In having a view like that, you are nothing but a biggest Murtid..I am not Wadaad and I beg Allah for the right path, but what the Ethiopians are doing in Somalia is nothing less than ethnic cleansing based on religion..

There was nothing going on in Guri-Ceel and they went anyways just to use it as a artilery test site. Sad.
When I was little kid, an uncle of mine worked in Dhuuso-Mareeb and during our school closures; we used to spend lots of time in Guri-Ceel. Very a beaufiful, red and thick sanded city with plenty of Caano geel....

This is about justice and freedom, whether that means freedom to practice one's religion, to organize and debate, to aire ones views etc etc.

Displacing 1 million MUSLIMS from a Muslim city/country while killing and jailing the Islamic scholars and closing down more then 30 mosques, is something which can be classified as JIHAD. It is every one's right in Mogadishu and Somalia to fight of this invading and occupying enemy who denies the people their right to go to their local mosque and pray while also displacing and massacring whoever stays behind in their house, forget about going to mosques.

What you talk about are techicalities which are mostly just techicalities. Like your prior argument of not standing up to an oppressive ruler who massacres and opresses the people whom he should have ruled wisely.

I am starting to doubt the version you are practicing. These days I have seen so much interpretations of our religion which go against logic.

FYI I was not the one who made a takfiir on them, these Somali murtads were already labbeled as such by Somali scholars, and I agree with him after seeing the massacre the people and closing down of more then 30 mosques.


Eevery Somali person who collaborates which such Anti-Islamic Occupation must be shot down like a dog!
