Is Al shabab Khariji movement?
"The Kharijis were extreme fanatics who often rebelled against the accepted order in the first two centuries of Islam. They developed a doctrine of continuous Jihad (holy war) against all Muslims who would not accept their teaching and authority and whom they therefore considered to be infidels."
Al shabab fits this description, they are extreme radical. Weather someone disagrees with the government or not they are the legitimate government and we don't have anything better at the moment.
Al shabab also was responsible for beheading muslim soldiers and causing mayham in Somalia and their supporters have a habit of labeling muslims 'murtad' etc without thinking of the implications of their words.

Re: Is Al shabab Khariji movement?
Yes Shabab is the modern day khawaarij no question. However the blame does not lie with the miskin 15 year old misled bravehearts but the criminals in Asmara calling themselves muqaawama who eat lavish meals and fundraise money while the people there supposed to be fighting for are going through hell on earth. They sign peace deals with the corrupt TFG while they claim to be against them.

Re: Is Al shabab Khariji movement?
No, they don't fit the profile of Khawaarij at all. Individuals who accuse them of such are the kind of losers who lack faith themselves and worship their clan Gods. Their comments are driven by clanish resentment. These young lads of Al-shabaab are the best among somalis of today.

Re: Is Al shabab Khariji movement?
This 'goverment' (99% warlords) supports the destruction of mosques, killings of muslims in mosque and they want democracy. They have invided the kuffars into our country, the worst crime(treason)committed in the history of somalia.
Why should alshabaab not behead their enemies(kuffars and tfgtraitors)?

Re: Is Al shabab Khariji movement?
Any muslim person who can asses the situation without bias will come to this exact conclusion, the TFG is corrupt that's true, but the al shabab is more dangerous to somalia.Murax wrote:Yes Shabab is the modern day khawaarij no question. Abtiga
Can you refute the claims without resorting to ad hominems?

Re: Is Al shabab Khariji movement?
Absolutely. Anyone who would veil their totalitarian ambitions with Islam is more dangerous by many orders than their competition. I'm not convinced by the baseless rhetoric.
Re: Is Al shabab Khariji movement?
The only Kharijis that ever existed throughout Islam's history were those that rejected Ali's treaty with Muawiyyah, they consisted of hypocrites and left to form their own sect and in the end its believed that it was them who killed Ali (ra).
How do Al-shabaab, who live 1400 years later, have anything in common with them? How can anyone who supports the invasion of soveirgn Muslim land by an infidel army, supports goons & war criminals, supports a puppet government dare accuse anyone of being corrupt?

There are those who view both groups with near equal distaste, and show their disdain for their self-serving rhetoric.

Re: Is Al shabab Khariji movement?
They are not Khawarij, and whoever claims that shows only his very limited knowledge of Islam.
Khawarij made takfeer to muslims because of sins. If someone lies, makes zina, drinks alcohol etc, he's a kaafir. They took haram actions to be nullifiers of Iman and Islam. Also one trait of Khawarij was that they fought muslims, leaving the kuffar alone.
Now what are the traits of khawarij that Shabaab (may Allah give them victory) share with them?
Shabaab make takfeer to somali government and soldiers. This can be divided into following parts:
- If takfeer is made because they don't rule by Sharica, then this is legal takfeer and the great majority of culamaa during islamic history had this opinion. There's also another opinion that person is a kaafir only if he same time believes it's allowed. Anyway there's no problems with Shabaab following this opinion, and there's a ton of evidence from the Qur'aan and Sunnah backing that up.
- If takfeer is made on the basis that somali government is allied to the kuffaar and they are fighting against muslims, then there's ijmaac of the culamaa about the issue. So there's no problem with this point either.
So making takfeer to government is not haram. Next issue is the soldiers and police force fighting for this government:
- Individual takfeer to soldiers who are helping the government is also legal. There's difference of opinion about this issue in this kind of situation when people who were born into muslim families are fighting muslims in the side of taaghuut: all the soldiers are kuffaar and they need to be fought against, or the second opinion is that individually not all of them can be said they are kuffaar, but anyway they need to be fought against. So also in this case Shabaab are following a legal opinion and ruling.
So where is the problem? I challenge anyone who claims that Shabaab are from the khawarij to bring forth their evidence.

Re: Is Al shabab Khariji movement?
This presents us with the rather intriguing problem of bona-fide kafireen ruling, and walking upon the holy lands of the Haramayn, doing Hajj and other activities within its boundaries.Salahuddiin wrote: - If takfeer is made on the basis that somali government is allied to the kuffaar and they are fighting against muslims, then there's ijmaac of the culamaa about the issue. Why do the Saudi Ulama, who know ijmaac on this issue, not rebel?

Padishah
There's no difference between Saudi family and rest of the governments except in the issue that Saudis claim they are islamic and have some islamic outer appeareances like the shahada in their flag etc...
There are many culamaa from Jazeera who made takfeer to the ruler, and many of them are still in prison, except some who were released after they make public "tawba" that the gov can use for propaganda purposes and after that they keep on living in house arrest under surveillance.
Also there are many who don't say things concerning government out loudly, but keep quiet about these issues and their reason is their own safety. And these culamaa don't see the benefit for going public, they would only be put to jail and nothing would change. So they just keep on educating the people and doing dacwa.
And then there are those who get paid from the gov and live in big mansions and give fataawa for whatever the gov asks them to, and these kind of people exist in every country, check out any official mufti of any muslim counry.
There's no problem in sharica about acting against kaafir government ruling over muslims. The issue is what to do about it, and this can be different from one place to another. In the situation when the public is supporting rebellion and brothers rebelling are strong, then they should do it. But if there's only little people and they are weak, then it's not wise to make open attack against government, because they will only be destroyed and the dacwa dies. In that kind of country is better to have different kind of long-term plan.
Good example is what happened few years back in Jazeera. Rebellion broke out and many of the leaders, culamaa and youth of the movement were either killed or put to prison and they didn't gain much. Now they chose another kind of approach.
Now in Somalia situation is different, government is relatively weak and mujahideen are relatively strong so the fighting there is natural choice.
