Oxy good question

This is exactly what i tell them http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/Sate ... boutIslamE

Also if they are Christian or from a Christian/Jewish background i would point out that Mary (peace be upon her) was according to Judeo-Christian sources bethroed to Joseph a much older man when she was 11 or 12...but do read the Islamonline article its very informative indeed! ..shows how contradictory the reports are for instance and they conclude after analysing the hadiiths..that Aisha (May Allah s.w.t be pleased with her) was at least fourteen or fifteen at the time of marriage.

Rasullullah(salalahu caleyhi wa salam)....saw in a dream his marriage to Caisha(radiyallahu canhaa).
The dream of the prophets are revelations from Allah.
He consumated the marriage at the age of 9.

Where would islam be without Caisha?
She narated 2210 hadiths. Most of them detailed relationships muslims use in their daily relationships every day.

Don't try to beautify Islam for the kufars and weak faiths. present the facts as they are.
They Take it if Allah wills or leave it if they are arrogant and think they know better than the one who created Caisha and honoured her by giving her to the prophet(salalahu caleyhi wa salaam) in marriage.

dont worry about what they think
if they have brain you can tell them how arabs where 1500 years ago
and what islam made them.
that time women was proberty and aisha marriage is very known in arabic culture.
when they want to tight up relationship with some one they marry from them.
who is close to prophet than abu bakar to tight up relation with?
they need to read our culture and custom to understabd them
they cannot judge people who lived 1000s years ago with these days laws and custom.
my mother's mom married at age of 13 and had 16 kids.
my sisters would throught up even the thinking of that today!.
it's just different custome and time.

Re-read what you wrote, Hyper; then consider that in light of the several attempts to codify Shariica. Time and culture always somehow enter the mix. Look at the Hudood laws in Pakistan and that support for "honor" killings. Look at the Taliban version in Afghanistan. Also look at FGM; it is an African tradition not at all limited to Muslims and supported among the mandhabs only by the Shaficii, who have an Egyptian base. I find it doubtful the Prophet ever supported any of this.

As an historian, I have to accept what Aisha had to say over the analysis of later apologists. Clearly, whatever was going on, it was acceptable to her. But I agree with you that her words need to remain in the historical context. Times and customs have changed in the course of 1400 years. That is a better answer than to claim the words of the author of more than 2000 hadiiths are false........
