According to research conducted by the uSwitch portal, which specializes in comparative analyses of prices and living costs, Poles have a higher quality of life than the Irish and British, despite significantly lower incomes.

Out of the ten EU countries analysed, Poland was placed at eight position, before Britain and Ireland, but after Spain, France, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden and Italy.

The research included 19 different factors, such as incomes, prices, costs of living, health service quality, education, etc.


Although the British had the highest net income in the group, they pay six percent more for fuel, 49 percent more for gas and five percent more for electricity.

An average Briton has 29 days off a year, compared to 40 days in France; Britons retire at the age of 63, on average, compared to 58 in Poland.

On top of all that, Great Britain has 80 percent less sunny days than Spain and is 17 percent below the European average. (mo)
