TFG Cabinet Discuses National Security and Government Revenue Reform

Mogadishu, Somalia (HOL) - In a meeting held today in Mogadishu, the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) cabinet discussed issues related to government revenue reform, national security and national reconciliation.
The meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister and the cabinet listened to presentations by the Ministers of Finance, Interior Affairs and Public Safety and National Defence. The Prime Minister also talked about trips he recently made to countries in Africa and Europe.
TFG spokesman Mr. Abdi Haji Goob-doon told reporters after the meeting that the Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Ali Hamu reported that the Ministry of Finance is working on a plan to reform the management of the government revenues and that the plan will be tabled at a cabinet meeting after economists working on it finalize it.
The spokesman added that the Minister of Interior Affairs and Public Safety Mr. Muse Nur Amin and the Minister of National Defence Muhayidin Mohamed Haji also reported to the cabinet that their Ministries are working on plans to increase national security and recommended that as a starting point the TFG take good care of current TFG troops including those who recently returned from a training in Ethiopia.
The TFG spokesman added that the Prime Minister talked about current reconciliation efforts led by the United Nations and added that working on national reconciliation is one the reasons the government received a vote of confidence and that these efforts are progressing well and that he expects positive outcome from the ongoing reconciliation efforts.
