ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A 55-year-old Albuquerque woman who pretended to have a child to get thousands of dollars from her former husband has pleaded guilty to 13 felony charges.
Viola Trevino used fake documents and a phony DNA test to get child support from her ex-husband.
The child never existed.
The scheme unraveled in 2004 when a judge ordered her to bring the child to court.
Authorities say Trevino paid a woman $50 to borrow the woman's granddaughter to show the judge.
But the grandmother followed Trevino into court.
Trevino earlier was sentenced to 16 months in federal prison for filing a false tax return in which she claimed the imaginary child.
