the future of American Empire

The results of widespread financial collapse in the USA (on every level, from private to government institutions) has resulted in a real fire-sale of assets, properties, and what may be called the native means of production , as well as remaining natural resources to various foreign entities.
Amazingly, China holds more value in American land inventory than any number of the remaining American financial companies.
The sharp downturn in America's fortune will be compared to the collapse of the Soviet Union, but with one difference: no one can see a future where the U.S. can re-claim it's influence, as Russia did to some degree. The standard of living is declining, life expectancy is alrady falling, as well as other benchmarks commonly used to measure a society's well-being. America is not only no longer the #1 global power, it's not even in the top 4 anymore, and is losing ground fast.
Gloomy, I admit. So s/netrs weigh in.
