Re: Love=Lust of the mind and body?
I dissagree.
Love is a spiritual metaphysical ground. Many have blurred the line of lust and love but I assure you they are not the same thing.
You can lust over many but you only love very few if not just one.

Miss,
Lust is often seen as something sexual. But the proper definition is: intense desire. Ofcourse, this can be intense desire (in sexual terms) or intense desire for power or something else. So lust of the mind can be intense mental desire for something or somebody. And lust of the body is plain sexual in nature. Another thing I have noticed is that people love to flower ''love'' and make it something descended from heaven, while denying that it is lust of the mind and body for someone else. Ofcourse it should be both, because after marriage when one's sexual desires are satisfied (i.e his lust of the body) the lust of the mind should be still strong to sustain the marriage.
Istaqfrullah, where am i with my mind on this day of Ramadan?

Re: Love=Lust of the mind and body?
Lust is having a physical/sexual attraction to someone.
Love is having a physical/mental/personal attraction to someone.
and in between lust and love is friends with benefits.

Love= Emotional connection to another ie; I love my mommy and or husband/boyfriend
Lust = Sexual desire ie: My bf has a big D*** yummm
Does that clear it up for everyone...sheeeesh

I still disagree.
I beleive love is something that is beyond us. Lust is almost always temporary where love is infinite. Lust is that physical attraction you have to someone that you can easily have with another inidividual. Love can not be replaced.
Lust is selfish, Love is unselfish. Thats the easiest way I can put it for you.

LOL
Correction..... love is soooo not unselfish, it may be kind to some, but not so much to everyone.
But then again, maybe those ppl arn't in "love"????

Love is unselfish. Human nature is to be selfish. When you find urself giving someone something you would want for yourself, that is love being unselfish.

Somalis cant see the difference between love and lust...the minut they feel attracted to someone they think they are inlove..they get married and then after few months they start realize the truth..markaas ayuu dagaalko bilaamba, instead of ending it there they think with their little minds..dee ma laha hadii aan caruur dhalo ninkan waano is jeclaan..the first kid comes..the second baa lagu sii dabo xejin..then then..markaas ayey arintu sii qaraarta....all the maskes are of..they cant pretend anymore....they take the only exit way out...divorce.
In my book the only real love in this world...a mothers love to her children..pure unconditional love.

With all due respect...
I dont know why you feel to point the finger at Somalis'. I dont think love-lust is the big problem thats ending marriages in our culure. The problem/issue is much deeper and has more layers than an onion. To simply paint the divorce with the broad brush of lust not beign love is very elemantry of you.

Ms.nalia,
If been selfish is in Human nature, then how can humans feel love if love is unselfish? Also, why do you describe love as something heavenly sent, something pure, something only few people can exihibit?
Helwaa,
Your explanation of lust-marriage is just 1 of the many variables behind the high rate of divorce. I dont think one would marry out of lust, because that is plain stupid since no sane person would rush into a difficult road called marriage just one feels attracted to the other person. I feel attracted to some women, even can feel lust for them, but I would never marry them! For marriage, I look for a woman who is wifey-material, and physical attraction is just one of the least matters in this equation.
