contrary to popular belief, the bad guys usually DO win, more success, more money, etc..(of course I know winning is subjective). Other than some moral obligation, whether it derives from family values, religion, etc, what's the purpose of being a good person, considering that people who don't hold themselves to such standards are more successful career.
So am asking the s/netrs in todays business world is it worth beenig good, moral, having a honorable character?
Is it worth it to be....

Re: Is it worth it to be....
It's not true that bad guys always win, but people who won't stand up for themselves do always lose.
You can be a good guy and not put up with other people's bullsh*t. You can be confident in yourself and not be a jerk.
Jerks always lose in the end as well, because people don't trust them or do business with them. Trust and relationships are everything.
That's how you get respect. Be strong, believe in yourself, and do the right thing. Noone respects a jerk or a wimp.

I've worked with jerks lots of times and I can tell you that it's not true. Noone likes them, they don't get promoted and they can't keep clients, they can't establish business relationships.Aabo- Karl wrote:James what your saying is true when it comes to personal relationship but in the business world its a different story, its like survival of the fittest.
Mind you, for some odd reason being a SLEAZY guy doesn't seem to get in the way of success, as long as none of your clients are female, and other sleazy guys will want to work with you (because he "isn't uptight" and "fun").
You can screw people over and cheat them, but they'll never want to work with you again. Success in business is about building lasting relationships, so even if someone's offering your client a better deal, they'll stay with you because they prefer working with you.
Also, people will do free advertising for you if you treat them right, they'll tell their friends about you.

James am not talking about being a jerk and rude to people am talking about maybe twisting the truth, plotting and planning and to tell you the truth ever since i started decieving it worked out for the better.
I'm no perfect angel but I believe in my heart that I am a good person..I work my tail off at work and do try and look out for the better of others..have I been taken advantage of?? maybe a few times.

Yes. However, some skills are necessary to complement what you have mentioned. Example of those skills:Aabo- Karl wrote:So am asking the s/netrs in todays business world is it worth beenig good, moral, having a honorable character?
-Being assertive
-Being a little bit aggressive
-Being vigilant about certain people who might take advantage of your goodness
-Other skills I don't recall now (let others add)

Ah I see what you mean. There's deceit and there's protecting your business interests, one takes advantage of other people, and the other prevents people from taking advantage of you. If you're not taking advantage of people, you have a right to defend yourself from people trying to con you into something.Aabo- Karl wrote:James am not talking about being a jerk and rude to people am talking about maybe twisting the truth, plotting and planning and to tell you the truth ever since i started decieving it worked out for the better.
