asalamu aleikum,
This great word of the testament to one true god with out any partners in worship, neglecting all other false deity is what the message of Islam revolves around and gives utmost importance.
Allah the most high said :
"Worship AllAh and join none with Him in worship,(Quran 4:36)
The religion of Islam that Allah the Almighty blessed up on His servants was the reason for their creation. Honouring the children of Adam and making available to them every means to fulfil their great purpose.
Allah the most high says:
"And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). (Qur'an 51:56)
The Most high said:
"Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped)." (Quran 2 :22)
The Most high said:
"And indeed We have honoured the Children of Adam, and We have carried them on land and sea, and have provided them with At-Taiyibaat (lawful good things), and have preferred them above many of those whom We have created with a marked preference."(Quran 17:70)
As the Ulama mentioned regarding this verse Allah did not give mankind this honour, excellence and high station except due to the importance of the goal for which they were created, which is the worship of Allaah Alone.
And submission to one true God was the religion of all prophets; Noah, Abraham, Mosses, Jesus and David may peace be upon them all.
Allah (SWT) said :
"And verily, We have sent among every nation a Messenger ordering them that they should Worship Allah Alone, and avoid everything warshiped beside Allah []," (Qur'an 21:25)
The Most high said:
"And We did not send any Messenger before you (O Muhammad SAW) but We inspired him (saying): La Ilaha illa Ana [none has the right to be worshipped but I (Allah)], so worship Me (Alone and none else)."(Quran 21:25)
The prophets may peace be upon them were sent to reveal the message of Islam and to guide the people to success, who ever abandon them will be humiliated and punished.
The Most High said:
"These are the limits (set by) Allah (or ordainments as regards laws of inheritance), and whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger will be admitted to Gardens under which rivers flow, to abide therein, and that will be the great success. "(Qur'an 4:13)
The following verse Allah (SWT) said :
"And whosoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), and transgresses His limits, He will cast him into the Fire, to abide therein; and he shall have a disgraceful torment." (Quran 4:14)
In Sahiih Bukhari is reported :
"When the following Verse was revealed: "It is those who believe and confuse not their belief with wrong (worshipping others besides Allah.)" (6:83), the companions of Allah's Apostle (SAW) asked, "Who is amongst us who had not done injustice?" Allah revealed: "No doubt, joining others in warship with Allah is a great injustice indeed." (Sahih Bukhari )
