Why Do Somali Mothers Over Protect Their Kids?

Post by Kramer »

Somali mothers don't let their boys to take risks, we appreciate the love but let us do our things moms!
"Mom I wanna join the Military"
Nooooo! you will be killed!
"Mom I wanna become a police officer"
Nooooo! you will be killed!

"Mom I wanna go and travel around the world"

Noooo! it's very dangerous, stay at your own home!

And then you will see them complaining about, how you aren't as successful as others, or as famous as others or if you could do that or this!

OMG! Somali mothers plz stop over protecting kids, I have seen kids not allowed to go outside or play with other kids untill they are 4yrs or older!

Caring too much or overprotecting kids isn't healthy. When kids grow up, they should be given their own space and helped/encouraged to become independent and self-sufficient (that includes teaching them oral skills, self-defense skills, finance skills, etc). Yeah, it's true Somali mothers overprotect their kids too much.
