Lazy People Who Ask for Help Getting a Job

I am getting irritated by lazy Somali job seekers who ask me for help and never follow up.

How hard is it to prepare a cover letter and resume if I am going to forward it to my contacts who may be hiring ?

Whats the deal with seeing university graduates who can't prepare a decent resume and cover letter ? Did they not discover where the career office was located on campus ?

God helps those who help themselves.

I think a lot of young uni graduates don't know where to start. The problem is that they have the education, but not the experience. The only thing they have is their education and skills they've acquired through education and is not enough to put on their resume when they graduate. That's when something like volunteering helps or internships. Furthermore, the first transition from school to work is harder for young people who've only had jobs in the service industry, such as for example, retail and sales. That said, I agree with you, they should go and get help from the career center, or if that doesn't help, there are other options such as for example, professional resume builders, but those charge money.

Kramer,

Stop by my office saxiib. I will hook you up with an excellent job

MissNalia,

I have networked my way into different positions. I do refer some people only if I know them well.

HaileyBailey,

A lot of Somali students focus solely on the educational experience and neglect the career development.

Its very difficult to get a decent position, if you have not taken on any internships/co-ops while in school.

I learned that stuff in 7th grade or something, who are these people you are talking about AW? Stop insulting college grads.

I find it awkward when Somalis you don't even know approach you and ask you to hook them up with a job. How can they expect you to just trust them like that? ppl have a reputation to look after ya know 8)

Allah maxey isku camireen..

AW/Ismahaan/Ms.naila.

It seems that even if someone asks you a direction to an office building, you interpret that they are less professionally prepared then you.
