I have an Aunt who bores me to death on the phone, whenever she calls me after a small conversation and the usual sii tahay, adiga see tahay, blah blah, she stays quiet, and doesn't say anything, it's like she isn't even there, and whenever I start a discussion, I only get one or two short responses, followed by an awkward silence, it's so frigging annoying not to mention boring and frustrating, I often manage to get rid of her with excuses like line kale ayaa i so kalay, but I can't help but feel guilty. How can I tell her what is she like on the phone without hurting her feelings? Help.

P.S..she is like this with everyone else, but no one dares to tell her, and btw she is so much different in person.

Caller ID, its a great invention Screen your calls.

Abdi, Ignoring her calls, is not the answer, I know I have to say something to her, but I don't want to come off as rude, after all she is a family member, I respect her greatly.

Aunt is a "Waalid" so it is a serious question. If she is a women of few words in every subject, then it does not hurt if you say, " Habaryar/Eeddo sow ma caafimaad qabtid anana sidoo kale",
then immediately you say" Sidaada kale iska warran"? Which means the conversation is about to end.

But if she is the type that maybe like to avoid "Demb" and gossip, I am sure that there are topics she likes to talk about, try to find out her favorite topics...BTY I am not implying that you are a gossiper

just tell her "Madam you are boring me to Death" simple as that.....

maskinta...is she lonely?..waheel bay oo bahantahi..iska dah...you should just avoid her calls when your not ready to speak with her and call her or pick up only when you haven't spoke with her for awhile..that will save the relationship.

why dont u bring that to her attention.....

Do you have anything important to tell us madam than telling us your boring life. Who do you think cares about you boring life. If you are not happy, you can commit suicide. I hate garoobs.

Nabeela, I understand your pain. I had that problem a while back. I met this hot girl, but she's the most boring girl ever on the phone, and worse of all she couldn't stop calling me and wants me to talk her on the phone.

The best solution is to pretend that you have guests or you are busy cleaning house, or doing homework
