Iran slams ICC action against Bashir

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir
Iran has condemned the International Criminal Court's decision to hear a war crimes case against Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir.
The International Criminal Court's (ICC) decision to take action against Omar al-Bashir is 'illegal' and 'unacceptable', President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a Tuesday meeting with Sudanese Foreign Minister Deng Alor.
Alor, who is currently on an official visit to Tehran, informed the president about the latest developments in Sudan.
President Ahmadinejad voiced Tehran's support for any move toward ending hostilities and establishing security in Sudan.
On July 14, ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo accused the Sudanese president of having connection to war crimes committed in the country's restive western region of Darfur and called for al-Bashir's arrest.
The case has been submitted to three judges who will decide whether to issue an arrest warrant.
Al-Bashir has strongly rejected the accusations. The Sudanese government has declared that it will not recognize an ICC verdict.
Earlier in August, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, said issuing a warrant against al-Bashir would not help restore peace and security in the conflict-stricken country.
Tehran maintains that the Darfur crisis can only be resolved through talks mediated by Muslim states.

Re: IRAN THE REAL MUSLIM COUNTRY STAND UP FOR SUDAN!!!
The problem is Umar Bashir has no base, no firm stand. Today he is waving seyf for audience, tomorrow he is negotiating behind your back. The Arabs and Muslims who would otherwise support him don't see the point, because they don't trust him.
