Who Divided Somalis?

Have you ever asked youself that important question?

I say Siyad Barre and since it's October 21th and the Marehans and some members of MOD still want to bombard the place with Siyad Barre I thought I would ask the important question.

Horta lets start with MOD. What is it? Who created it and what was the use for it?

Lets also discuss why North Somalia wants to break away and while we are at it lets talk about the conquences
of these divisions.

Before I get started with this discussion is there anyone who wants to add anything else to the table?

Mostly cugdud ridden tribes such as issaq and mj's who wanted to rule somalia selfishly and didnt want no one else getting piece of the pie

Of course not, Captain24. Really! How can you suggest such a preposterous thing? There is nothing selfish about the nationalist leader and most popular Somali political figure, Major General Muhammad Siad Barre, holding with a vice-like grip, the Presidency for 21 years, because it was in the interest of the Somali people.

I actually thought that was funny

European powers divided Africa Including Somaliida , when African Nations where given there Independence some choose to unite some choose to stay independent. Somaliland for example choose to unite, in 1960 with the rest of Somalia when they could have stayed independent.


Djabouti for example choose to stay independent but out of Somaliniimo Somaliland choose UNITY with the rest of Somaliya , Now you had a leader of a country who should have united his people.

And make his country a powerhouse in Africa and the rest of the world look at Eritrea you have Muslims and Christians who are united they have a real great leader. The late president Siyad barre The dictatator created clan politics his clan came first and formost he was responsible for genoide against his own citizens Bombing his own cities .

He divided his people furter leading slowly and surely to a civil war.

So my conclusion based on this facts are siyad barre Divided Somaliya !

People make mistakes and of course I am not gonna deny his mistakes but like Suga said leave him alone...AUN

When where Somalis ever united?

There is an argument with some supporters that says the largest isbahaysi in Somali history occurred between 1969 and 1978 as Somaliweyn built towards Jigjiga. Before and after was just Somali politics as usual.

The agriculturist vs. the nomadist, baadiye iyo beled, coast and miye, Waqooyi iyo Konfur, as well as the tribal splits and minorities, have always been there. The austere North was influenced mostly from the Arabian peninsula; the South from Persia, Iraq, Oman and points east, and the Swahili coast. Very different mindsets.
