Clan Squabbles - are they worth effort?

Post by HAUDflower »

Darod clans fought over Kismayo for two decades only to have an Isaaq mayor in the present day. And yet now, nobody is complaining.

Isaaq clans fought over hegemony in Somaliland sub-state only to have a president from the Dir clan. And yet now, nobody is complaining.

Just two examples out of many.

I know all of you agree that clan squabbles and legitimizing clan-based structure leads to failure. But why do a lot of you, or your relatives (you all have them) put so much money into these clan issues? We all know that diaspora gather regularly for "clan summits," is there any justification for it, seeing that all evidence leads to utter failure and disaster?

The Qabil system saved Somalia from Total Anarchy. And it's the Qabil System that is keeping Somalia together at the moment.

Let the qabils have their meeting at the end of the day it is they who are building Somalia.

Who do you think Build Puntland iyo Somaliland and added a whole to part of Mogadishu?

Businessmen aligned to religious clerics.

Houses mean nothing.

I'm talking about businessmen like the Daalo airline owners or the Amal enterprise owners or the guys who built all the hotels and shit in Somaliland and Puntland.

I don't know about Somaliland, but the business community in Puntland has many ties to local religious clerics. The tribal system & elders and the money & support they receive only promotes tribal competition and often times, violence.

Without the help of the religious clerics in Bosaso, the inflation in Somalia would've continued and businesses would continue to suffer from lack of customers and boycotts. They supported the Bosaso-based clerics who destroyed the machines.

Get your info correct.

Despite the fact that i have seen him praise Ethiopia and its leader @ the expense of Somalis and the fact that i have seen some people say Haudflower is a Majirten, i sincerely think he is one of the most patriotic people here.

On the topic though, I agree Paidmonk. Qabiil squabbles are yesterday's news. Somalis are at a new turning point, just like the American civil war, the Somali civil war has turned a page to have real significane; two major opposing sides with two ideologies vying for power. Qabiil is done and we should help bury what is left of it.

Which retard moved this topic, this is a legitimate discussion and critizes clan politics. Move it back to the generals!

I agree with you paidmonk, and the reason why Somalis put a lot of effort and resources into this bullshyt is because they lack a helicopter view of the entire situation. Just listen to their discussions, it's always about persons and events. PL and SL only exist, simply because one thing lead to the other. TFG and the courts, two prime examples of simple twats leading, what could have been, a viable solution to the Somali problem.
