Somalia is getting Iraq syndrome
Not about the suicide bombings. But about general popular uprisings against lawlessness.
Whenever locals take action, some boogie man is brought into the picture. When locals in Bari decided to fill their power vacuum in 1992 using Shariah Law, Ethiopian-backed SSDF used the "religious fundamentalist" card and won the support of Ethiopia to attack these men. Now, why was the SSDF so worried about these local wadaads (who were from THEIR clan as well) when rival militia groups were slaughtering their women and elders like pigs in Galkacyo in the same time period?
Same thing happened in Gedo. Locals were tired of being ruled by the SNF militia group that was making no significant gains. They tried to bring change failed. And for the next decade the local wadaads were made to feel guilty for the Ethiopian invasion of the region and until recently, they were kept in the dark.
So on and so forth. The actions today in Bosaso and Hargeisa was entirely the work of locals. If there were any civilian deaths, that's unfortunate. However, the Puntland Intelligence Service is a dark spot in the region and any steps to dismantle it should be taken. So, kudos to the locals for standing up.
No comment on Hargeisa, I wasn't really aware they had any wadaads nor am I too aware of the whole situation.

Brilliant analysis.
Wadaado power.
True. How fast these guys sprung off their cloaks and flexed their muscle even amazes me.And for the next decade the local wadaads were made to feel guilty for the Ethiopian invasion of the region and until recently, they were kept in the dark.
Wadaado power.

Liqaaye's analysis based on his trip to Somaliland paints the same picture in Puntland. There are wadaads there that have taken so many youth under their wing and the people support the wadaads there in the same way they do in Puntland, Benadir, Gedo, ect now.HAUDflower wrote:

Hmm...
Re: Somalia is getting Iraq syndrome
Puntlanders respect their government even though it barely has done anything for the average man they still favorite it over an UIC-like system. There will never be an UIC-like system in Puntland, unless it gets invaded by the South (very unlikely).FAH1223 wrote:Liqaaye's analysis based on his trip to Somaliland paints the same picture in Puntland. No real Puntlander would bomb his own city, not even if he hates Cadde. This is the work of Southerners!

Blaming it on the "Southerners" is too cliche and too redundant, no one knows who do this.dawwa9 wrote:

Re: Somalia is getting Iraq syndrome
You have no idea about this situation, Bosaso has an extremely large Southern population from refugees without sandals who want to go to Yemen to fat ass businessmen. Puntlanders are patriotic people, this is a shameful act done by a southerner. It just can't be a Puntlander.FAH1223 wrote: Blaming it on the "Southerners" is too cliche and too redundant, no one knows who do this.

The terrorists will be placed in Bosaso prison.
45 C / 110 F degrees in the hot sun and they will be served rotten fish everyday! And they have to share their cells with grumpy pirates.

On a more serious note:
Good analysis...lakiin stop with the typical somali bashing...why would northerners not have wadaads...
Re: Somalia is getting Iraq syndrome
as if puntland pirates are in cells , they could bribe evry official in puntland with the sheer money they make

Re: Somalia is getting Iraq syndrome
95% of the Puntland prison population are Pirates and Human traffickersdynamic wrote:as if puntland pirates are in cells , they could bribe evry official in puntland with the sheer money they make
They are the failed onces, not the onces that succeeded

Re: Somalia is getting Iraq syndrome
I didn't say that Somaliland had zero wadaads, but they're not visible at all.
Puntland is different, the place is rife with wadaads; just look at the courts in Galkacyo in 2006, the locals could've resisted but didn't hesitate to setup a court when the UIC gave them a green light of safety from Puntland authorities. Or the fact that the first major "Jihad" in Somalia took place in Bari or the numerous actions taken recently in Puntland to stop the rise of official Shariah courts.
No "Southerners" are to blame for this. When did starving IDPs have the equipment to make powerful car bombs?
Like I said, the Iraqi "boogie man" syndrome is taking place. Blaming the wrong people for something locals are doing. Its funny how Somalis pretend to see the "truth" in Iraq yet they act blind when it comes to the facts in their own backyard. Stop acting stupid.

Re: Somalia is getting Iraq syndrome
The attack on somaliland was in the pipeline, its a reaction to the clumsy approach by Riyaale when handling the delicate situation of the war in the south and ethoipia. He seems to believe that only one side is to be feared between the two sides and thats ethoipia. The fool needs to understand the bigger threat is pissing of these wadaads, if they build up steam somaliland wont see tomorrow. He needs to distance somaliland from ethioipia and support the somalis in this struggle, its a shame to say we have been backing the wrong side for far to long. These bombings should be seen as a product of that failed policy.
