CAN ANY BODY TELL US THE HISTORY OF SHEIKH BASHIR?
I really dont understand what this moderator wants?.He even deleted the topic about the wadaads who were killed by Afweyne in 1975.
Now, what I want is somebody to tell the life of Sheikh Baashir and how he was killed.
I specially would Emperior and Sahan-galbeed to answer this question.

Re: CAN ANY BODY TELL US THE HISTORY OF SHEIKH BASHIR?
Emperior, Sheikh Bashir lived long after Darawish.
I heard he called his clan members and asked them to recite Quran on a cup of water.
The ulamas said that if the cup spills its water that will be good omen to wage a war, if it dont
then they wont attack the English. After the reading of the Quran went for a while and the water didn't spill, he stood up and smashed the cup together with the water on the wall and said "War Quran ka camal raaciya".
Then he was killed by his close relatives.
What I want to know is
1)Did he kill any person on the British side?.
2)How was he killed?.

Sheikh Bashir was another somali halyey indeed, who fought for his religion against the English colony, but his own cousins betrayed him, and the brits killed him in Burao....
I personally know his Grandson who lives in Hargeisa, and im gonna ask him the whole History, because i dont have it my self!!!
as General_SNM said- All we know so far is he was Habar Jeclo-Yeesif Halyey

You mangled the story of Sheekh Bashiir's encounter with the Wadaads. He went to them to urge them to join him in an armed struggle against the British. They refused by saying that they will pray for God to remove the British from our land. He put a glass of water in front of them and asked them to break that glass with their prayers. Needless to say they were unsuccesful at which point he took his walking stick and shattered the glass. The moral being, you must combine force and action with piety to gain results.
Sheekh Bashiir was killed by the British at Buurdhaab and his corpse was left to rot in Burco streets for days as a warning to any potential troublemakers.
Sheekh Bashiir was born and raised in Taleex within the Darwiish community of an Ogaadeen mother. From the Darwiish he gained a love of country and hatred of colonizers.
Long shall he be remembered. A True hero. A true Darwiish.

War Cilmille nobody cares about his mum's qabil, do you care about your mums qabil. Or would you allow any of your accomplishment's to be passed on to your mums tribe? Then why curse the dead shikh like that by associating with him, those disgraceful groups. I'm sure like you he wouldn't be happy being associated with the enemy.

Coolpoison,
because half cast blood is always the best. It creates a union of different genes and makes it better. Like black and white --their kids are cuter and smarter. Think Obama? Think Climiile? Half isaaq and half ogaden?
Cilmiile welcome macaan! u have been missed.
Re: CAN ANY BODY TELL US THE HISTORY OF SHEIKH BASHIR?
Somali Muqawama History:
1. HJ created the dervish movement, unfortunately the dervishes went astray taking the fight to the somalis instea. One positive outcome was that they put the yoke on Dhulos for they were identified for special relations with the colonialist by their spies who studied the country as traveller sportsman or under other disguises.
The burden placed on the wadaad as holy leader was also too heavy for him to bear until he succumbed to his demons and took refuge in extremism.
2. Dirir Warsame's fatwa in the form of a poem caused him his life but essentially open the door for HJ to essentially push the monster they created out. He said: muslinnimo nimaan kuula socon muuminnimo khaas ah...Gaal maxasta kuu dhawra ood magansataa dhaanta.
3. Sheikh Bashir Yessif HJ was the right leader to lead a new dervish movement, but unfortunately the damages done by the previous movement to somali society was too big and the british now had strong influence in the countryside and his movement was cut short.
4. Haji Farax Omaar (Xassan Dahir, HJ) realizing the effort to organize the Somalis to fight the forces on the ground was much more costly than taking the fight to the british public, an idea which its said he imparted to his friend Mahatma Gandhi. In that sense, he was the first modern politician among the somalis...Unfortunately his his almost one man effort, was no where near as successful as the Gandhi movement, Somalis are not the type to support a movement when the tactics are quite alien to them and the gap between the Faarax and the Somalis was too much to overcome. Gandhi is said to have remarked to his dear friend: That although he (Farax) was a better politician he (Gandhi) had better people. Farax's genious un credited he was born into a Somali Nation which consumes the greatness of men like the flames of hellfire.
Anyways, no Somali clan can claim a better record in the fight against injustice and oppression then HJ.
Idiot boy cilmiile may run around crying dervish that dervish this, when the dhulbahante were subjugated by a misguided movement founded and sustained by HJ. Haji Sudi who was an interpreter with the british during their campaign against the Mahdist movement in Sudan witnessed first hand british massacres and doubledealing, he developed hatred and became obsessed with throwing the british out of somaliland. He named the movement the dervishes and imported the ideas from the Mahdist movement in Sudan. He was essentially the chief advisor of the charismatic wadaad and the brainchild of the movement...unfortunately there was no real holy man at the center of this movement like the one in Sudan an it soon disentigrated to cultism and extremism. Haji Sudi an Adan Madoobe convinced HJ to support his misguided dervishes, he formed a network of his subclan to conduct the foreign affairs and provide the weapons to the dervish. HJ was locked into this futile effort until the fatwa of Warsame Dirir which I mentioned above which then finally encouraged HJ to kick out the monster they had created. I dare big candho cilmiile to deny these facts.
In sum,
1. Had we had Sh Bashiir b4 the dervishes Somaliland would have had its independence to form rightly guided Islamic nation
2. The genious of Farax Omaar although wasted on Somalis, It has benefitted dstant lands.
