share ur experience at the polls :D

Post by suga_n_spice »

ok sorry, i know this is like the millionth topic on the elections, but come on can u deny that it's exciting??!

so i must tell u guyz, i stood in line for 4 hrs last night  ....... it was worth every minute though

so there were like 10 somali's in line with me, but of course at different places. there was this particular guy a little bit behind me.....poor guy was like "hadaan ogaan lahaa in uu lineka saan u dheer yahay ma imaan laheen" so i kept encouragin him to stick it out. seriously it was not so bad. when we finally when in N i got my ballots the same guy came and sat next to me :o he's like "walaal waxan garan maaye, obama mee" so of course i had to help him miskiinka. is that even allowed?!

after so many hours in line, i finally got to vote. yaaaaay :!: and i got a little sticker that read "I VOTED" and the lady was like "congratulations you finally did it" :D 8)

gurl there is nothin excitin about sendin a paper ballot. uff. u don't even know if ur vote will get counted.

standin in line, however, has it's rewards. u get a huge envelope with ur name, address etc, and weird lookin long things ;) and u get to seal it and put it in this "important" lookin silver thingy. i'm tellin u, it was awesome 8)

I was in line for about 4 hours and it was an interesting experience because it gave me a lot of time to observe how people behave. It was really loud in the hall and I noticed not a single guy was talking and all the noise was coming from the females.

I should have waited till today, it took my friends only 5 minutes to vote. :o

4 1/2 hrs yesterday morning from 6:30 AM. I took my mp3 player, box of krispy kreme donuts & a huge mug of coffee. Line was moving at a rate of maybe around 0.0015 MPH, frustrating at times, but I'd do it all over again in a blink.

GOBAMA!

One, when he came here for the primaries. Stood outside in the rain and listened cause the arena filled up.

Washington is a super liberal, ultra democrat state. No body campaigns here the winner is known before the candidates are announced. We don't get t.v commercials, candidates don't come and visit, nothing like that.

We leave that to you flip floppers, Republican candidate doesn't have a chance here

Conservative uncles - who are issue driven Republicans ( family values etc, by the way I think all wadaados are Republicans). One cousin after years of being a Republican finanlly came around after 8 yrs of Bushism. Rest of the extended family vote democrat.

I literally did not have to wait a minute. I walked in just mere hours ago, directed to the folks who had my info, got my ballot, did my thing, turn it in electronically and walked out. Took 5 minutes altogether.

I asked this old lady why they are having so much problems and lines and everything in other states and not here and she laughed and said we always get high turn out rate in Washington State so that's why the organization and preparation is much better.
