Just like the French exerted a "cultural" influence by promoting a friendly elite in power in their former colonies in Africa {educating in their best schools ..ect..ect} America is doing the same with the leaders of the more affluent arab countries .

The Saudi gov't sells weaponry, jet planes and tanks to the US. Those same equipment are transferred to the Isreali Military which is used on the borders and against Hamas fighters.
