My friend who is a university graduate and has his own business married a somali girl and kept her home for 5 yrs without working. After 5 yrs of no children, he divorced her and paid her meher. The girl hired a lawyer and is now seeking Alimony.

The court gave my friend two options,

If a marriage can't produce an offspring then the sane thing to do is to wait a couple of years, the next step is the man to re-marry and see if he can have kids if that works and the doctors say the woman can't have babies and she loves her husband they should stay together for ever.

If not then she should go her own way on her own will, and re-marrry to see if she can have her own kids, but if he divorces she has every right to sue him.

Incidentally, I recently heard of this couple who divorced because the man didn't want to have children and the woman did. So she felt she was getting old and needed to look for someone else to have kids with. ...And yes both were Somalis!
