Somalia's Future
It is practically certain now that Sh Sharif Sh Ahmed will be the president of Somalia within the coming few days/weeks. Personally, I would have preferred Nur Cade, for multiple reasons. I just don't think this the moment for religious dudes to rule Somalia.
Sh Sharif presidency will most certainly mean an Isaaq prime minister. I think this is good for Somalia in the long run.

The ARS has 275 delegates and the other 275 come from the TFG. The ARS will field a single candidate and there is no way Nur Cade will beat Sh Sharif in that field. So it's almost certain now.

Seriously though, an Isaaq PM and Hawiye President will have strategic implications for the greater good

I'm for Nuur Cadde. He's 100% more qualified than Shariif.
Besides I really do not view Shareef as a "Religious Figuire" perse but a xukundoon Who has successfully used Religion for political ambition.

Sh Sharif has Ph.D in religion and Islamic fiqi; if that is not qualification enough to be a shiekh, then I don't know what is.Murax wrote:I'm for Nuur Cadde. He's 100% more qualified than Shariif.

I don't know why people think Sheikh Sharif is some kind of traitor, the guy negotiated the withdrawal of Ethiopia, and managed to get the EU and USA to oppose Ethiopia's presence in Mogadishu and to get them to support the idea of the UIC leading a new government.Twisted_Logic wrote:Sh Sharif has Ph.D in religion and Islamic fiqi; if that is not qualification enough to be a shiekh, then I don't know what is.Murax wrote:I'm for Nuur Cadde. Those are huge accomplishments. Who else has accomplished as much using only diplomacy?

Re: Somalia's Future
There's no way in a million years that Si'Laanyo would have any involvement with that government.
He's head of a political party in Somaliland and gearing up for the elections in less than 2 months time.
Moving to Southern politics would make him look like an oppertunist, both by the people of Somaliland and Reer Koonfureed.
There's no reason why he would tarnish his name like that.

People who hold negative views against Sh Sharif base their opinions on qabil. The rest of Somalia appreciates the hard-work he has put in to make Somalia peacefulJames Dahl wrote:I don't know why people think Sheikh Sharif is some kind of traitor, the guy negotiated the withdrawal of Ethiopia, and managed to get the EU and USA to oppose Ethiopia's presence in Mogadishu and to get them to support the idea of the UIC leading a new government.Twisted_Logic wrote:Sh Sharif has Ph.D in religion and Islamic fiqi; if that is not qualification enough to be a shiekh, then I don't know what is.Murax wrote:I'm for Nuur Cadde.
