On the day of the US president inauguration a professor of mine said, "I sure hope today's inauguration is a sign of the passing of the torch to a new generation."
This professor of mind is around the same age as my dad and while he can name a dozen or so heroes my dad could hardly name one. The difference is this, my professor can talk big about the passing of a torch to a new generation thanks to heroes whom made it possible, my dad though wasn't so fortunate unfortunately to even hear of a hero who made a passing of a torch possible, in fact his and that of his offspring's generation lives were made a living hell to this day.
In my eyes and that of my dad, Somali heroes are nonexistence because if they were none of us would have been in this position; in the West my city (Seattle) alone has 10 or so different Somali communities and back home Somalis make a living killing themselves.
