The Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat
I am still licking my wounds from the defeat of the greatest politician I have admired since the late great Ismacil Jimcaale (AUN).
I can't come to accept that Nur Caade has lost. How could the man who worked to restore peace & tranquility back to Mogadishu, freed thousands from the Ethiopian/TFG prisons, stood against the criminal elements of the TFG from looting Bakhara, eliminated obstacles to peace in the TFG i.e. Mohamed Dheere & Afbiijo, negotiated with the Muqawama, set up the withdrawal of Ethiopians from Somalia lose ?
Nur Caade should have won today and been given the opportunity to continue the peace making program.

AW: He's still prime minister, and there's nothing in the constitution that says he has to be replaced.

James either follow Somali Politics well or don't follow it at all.James Dahl wrote:AW: He's still prime minister, and there's nothing in the constitution that says he has to be replaced.
The Djibouti accord called for a new President and that president appoints a new Prime Minister.
Nur Cade could have stayed in as Prime Minister if Ina Siyad won the Presidency.

I recommend you read the precise wording of the 4.5 system in the constitution.Unclebin- wrote:Its something called 4.5.James Dahl wrote:AW: He's still prime minister, and there's nothing in the constitution that says he has to be replaced.

James Dahl forget about wordings and Semantics.
4.5 means that 100% of the time Nur Cadde would not be able to hold the post because his sub clansmen holds the other.

Re: The Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat
That's not what the charter says.
There is NOTHING in the transitional federal charter (Feb 2004), which serves as Somalia's constitution, that states that Nur Cadde cannot remain as prime minister of Somalia.
To be eligable, one must only:
(a) Be a citizen of the Somali Republic;
(b) Be a member of Parliament;
(c) Have attained the age of forty (40) years in the case of
the Prime Minister and the thirty-five (35) years in the
case of the Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and
Assistant Ministers;
(d) Have proven leadership qualities and political
experience.

Re: The Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat
James actually a new President means a new government. Notice even the foreign minister stayed on as "defacto foreign minister" after Abdullahi Yusuf resigned but now there is a new president. The only one who has a position tonight is the President and the Speaker/Vice-speakers of Parliament.
If you mean Shiekh Sharif can rename him, well of course he can do that. But he really can't even though it is not written in the charter. It is expected that the prime ministership goes to a clan the president does not belong to.
However, I agree the rotating positions of Hawiye/Darod for President/Prime minister is a dangerous precedent that is forming. Someone has to break the deadlock.

AW wants us to believe his little shananigans..
.
War you are the happiest man tonight , cos either way a Hiraab man won..which was a foregone conclusion anways.
Besides, even Nur Cadde knew he had no chance..once the extra pre-paid 200 MPs were sworn in..but the only thing that could have made you happier was if Qaybdid was running and won.

Absolutely. HOWEVER, after Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmad was elected in 2004, the previous Prime Minister remained in his post until he was replaced by Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmad.Voltage wrote:James actually a new President means a new government. It is absolutely at the discretion of the President of the Somali Republic who holds the posts in the government, and there is actually nothing in the charter to stop him appointing whomever he likes as long as they meet the minimum requirements of the charter.

Cawar, I don't think Abdiwahab can forget Cabdi Qaybdiid in the stadium area running from a Tikniko led by Sheikh Sharif.

Bottom line.. Nur Cadde will be replaced ASAP.. its in our DNA..no need for constitution or paper work for this case.
