James,

With respect to the maps you've presented here in the past, I must say I couldn't help but notice how Puntland grew smaller and smaller with each new map. I'm surprise you didn't just annexed the whole thing, the maps were your own drawing after all.

That said, if I was to base my judgment on how you've done away with Puntland it is quite obvious your not being fair toward the TFG's ex-president too.
James Dahl wrote:Abdullahi Yusuf was a warlord.

Sharif Sheikh Ahmad is a scholar.
Is he really a warlord? Only if you define a warlord as someone who stood up against a dictatorship; only if you define a warlord as someone who led 1/3 of Somalia in an organized fashion; only if you define a warlord as someone who wasted 4 years of his life in leading a nation full of crazed people.
Abdullahi Yusuf started the civil war.

Sharif Sheikh Ahmad ended it.
Did he really start the civil war? The civil war in Somalia started in 1988 and at the time I believe the man you accuse of starting it was behind Ethiopian prison after Ethiopia's leadership at the time and that of Somalia dictatorship agreed to put him behind bars. If anything the man must be applauded for being the first to repel against a cruel dictatorship.
Abdullahi Yusuf fought for Ethiopia in the Ogaden War, and invited them into Somalia to attack Somalis.

Sharif Sheikh Ahmad negotiated Ethiopia's exit from Somalia.
Flesh news, the dictatorship used the Ogaden War as a tactic to distract the attention away from them, the whole war was an excuse to break the army's back so they don't get overthrown themselves like they've done away with the previous government and it worked. A lot of soliders I must say weren't fortunate enough to find out about the regimes true intentions, but veterans like Mr. Yusuf given their experience have; you can accuse the man all you want but this is the same man that participated in the war of 1964 against Ethiopia, a war in which he was honored for his bravery.

Fast-forward to 2006, you accuse the man of bring the Ethiopians, I think your forgetting the UIC was agitating the TFG, making it plain—in no uncertain terms—that it had its eyes on toppling the fledgling TFG and conquering Baidoa, the only town in the South that remained free from their grip. Do your homework first before you accuse anyone.
Abdullahi Yusuf created a clan-based region that has fragmented steadily since it's formation.

Sharif Sheikh Ahmad created a clan-free organization that has become more diverse since it's formation.
No comment.
Abdullahi Yusuf destroyed the economy of the south under his rule.

Sharif Sheikh Ahmad made the southern economy flourish under his rule.
The economy of the south was ruin beyond repair way before Mr. Yusuf ever set foot in Villa Somalia. Things might have been flourishing under the UIC rule in your view; others though give us different picture:

Anyhow, if Abdullahi Yusuf was another Darod tyrant, he is now gone and is no longer an "obstacle to peace." If Ethiopian troops were the only problem, they have now returned to their own land after learning an important lesson in Somalia. So lets hope Mogadishu seizes the moment.

james,

i would'nt waste my breath typing up a reply.

to this day abdullahi yusuf's legacy will be remembered by many somalis as the man who brought eithios to kill his own brothers and sisters in somalia's history.

The man who brought the KAFFIRS into somalia.

His supporters remind me of those jewish collabrators who worked with the nazis who gassed their own people.

I have no love for siyad barre. But my god if he were alive today, we could have flushed our these traitors from our midst.

My father fought in ogaden war to free somali lands. Just imagine how he must feel if he were alive today. he fought for his country and in 2006 'somalis' brought those he fought against into the country.

The ultimate insult to the brave somalis who gave their lives for somalia

James showed his true colors yesterday.

His comments were so out of place it's not even forth a response.

Only a qutat filled Somali would write such a Filth about a great Somali Icon like Abduallhi Yusuf. Enough said.

If James Dahi the so called "Historican" wants to have a serious debate about history iyo Abduallhi Yusuf than there are more than just a few people on Somalinet that can set him straight.
