Can anyone explain briefly explain what a Computer Platform is?
I've heard of software platforms such as Java but what is a Computer platform.

Bro i'm far from an expert but the simple answer to ur question is BOTH. Both software and hardware specification make up whats called a 'computer platforms'.

Hardware/Software specifications make up Computer platforms i know that but my question should have been what's the role of a Computer platform to make it clearer i guess.

Or is it just there because those Hardware and software specifications sit on it?

Gosh, i feel like i'm in college again asking questions on the internet.

Cali sorry bro but I really don't get the question. Whats the role of a Computer Platform? well we're talking about everything its made of. From the motherboard, to every chip thats on it and every piece of software using that chip.

I think i get what you mean. It serves as a 'platform' for other programs etc to launch their operations or something to that extend.
