why do somali girls shun the hijab on their wedding night?
i've been to few lamagodley weddings because i knew these families and most of the brides i knew them well 2. they were good god fearing gals. what surprised me was, why do these God fearing gals shun the hijaab on their wedding night and wear western white gowns? the same people who will preach u if u wore baggy pants favor western white gowns.
is a hijab wedding gown not so fashionable? there aint a bigger statement to make than ur own wedding night.
any comment?

true, it happens all the time, but for a somali girl it's worse if she doesn't have a wedding and there is no way she'll go to her own wedding covered!

horta this is good question, i dont think their is any sanctions on wearing a particular clothe on your weddin night, but its also better not to imitate our good neighbors. damn its like having a holiday without the christmas lights, biyo iyo dad kaa badan waa ku qarqiyaan.

lol, good question. But I'd like to know why weddings are at night? Why can't it be in the morning or afternoon?
Re: why do somali girls shun the hijab on their wedding night?
The mistake is not the women having a wedding of their dreams or wearing whatever they want..
The real mistake is mixing genders on a wedding night or day..thats not Islamic and
I dont know where these ppl got that idea from..except to say its the highest form of imitation and copying from Kufar dhaqan.

Iskaba dhaafa the bride, waxaan la yaaba the guests (yar iyo weyn) oo Xijaabka soo dhiga on wedding nights, yet wear it otherwise.
That just proves my theory that most Somalis oo wadaada iska dhiga waa beentood. They probably do it because today it's the norm to appear more wadaad then say before the war. It's only a surface thing, they still know nothing about the deen.

u r right, many somali girls wear hijab for cultural expectation reasons and not for religious obligation.

hamari is a loaded word. in my family's case, my mom, grand mom, great grand mom, great, great grand mom, great, great, great grand mum, up to 1000's of years ago wore abaya/shukkah. lamagodley females started wearing hijab the last 20 years.Buhodle-Gurl wrote:When you "Somali girls" I hope u included Xamari chicks as well![]()
