$800 mill must be a drop in the bucket as we know the Feds settle for a lot less than what they are owed.

I know! As one blogger recently noted, the government is quick to imprison a single mother who steals food for her hungry children, than Madoff who is still is living in his 10m pad. As the saying goes, money talks and bullshit walks.

My only regret is not getting into these subprime loans to buy more real estate, borrow more against these properties and then bail for Africa :up:

AbdiWahaab, don't wish for that xarran! I know of a lady who is deeps..t, paper rich and seriously cash poor at the risk of being evicted from her mansion eventhough she owns a lot of other properties.........................it just that her renters aren't paying.....no plan B whatsoever in place.

Yeah some poor folks are imprisoned for minor crimes. But a massive white collar crime such as madoffs, he is allowed to stay under 'house arrest' in his manhattan mansion.
