Luxury Get Away For Kuwait’s Royal Family in Somaliland

Sheikh, 19 February 2009 (Somalilandpress) — Construction has started on what is expected to be a luxury holiday gateway to Somaliland for Kuwait’s ultra-rich royal family, the Al-Sabah.

The site is east of the mountainous city of Sheikh and is estimated to cover an area of 25 square kilometers (roughly 6100 acres) and will cost more than $3 million to construct the perfect gateway for Kuwait’s royals - it will have it’s own airport, helicopter pad, malls, swimming pools and luxury villas.

The luxury complex is been constructed by a local Somaliland firm - it has provided it’s own engineers, work force and materials. Building luxury villas, airport and complex malls for the royal family will give great boost to little known Somaliland construction companies.

The construction is expected to be completed end of 2009.

I wonder the same... why Somaliland? and why Sheikh district excactly
there are tons of other areas which actually rivals Sheikh Mountains

This is one weird story, i LiQaaye can actully confirm that ive seen this construction taking place in Sheikh, but none of the locals knew what it was and what it was going to be.. im surprised if this is real, why the fock would he build a Mansion in the middle of no where in a 3rd world country who has been devastated by war????

Liqaaye,

The royal family had properties and farms in the South before the war.

But the question now is why ?

I read one time in somali newspaper... that UAE nationals frequently visit Bulhaar for game hunting...
So whats the connection between Habar Awal and Gulf arabs?

Sheikh Mountains is serious property... magnificient nature only rivaled by few.
But you're right.. why go to a third world unrecognised country when they got great game places like kiinya , south africa.

I think its because Gulf nationals feel more at home in our rangelands.. its like they are visiting another part of their country, our culture is quite similar.. except we have great nature and africa as well

thats what i believe..

dont be suprised, they had mansions in somalia before the civil war.
they love somalia's weather.

Shiikh :up: :up: :up: One of my parents is born there...and we have some properties...

The truth of the matter is: Allaah SWT gave us a beautiful land which some of us don't even realize...But others who don't have it are willing to have a pie of that land under any cirumstance...

Shiekh Saayid used to have a great farm in Afgoi..and in that Farm and land there was a great Villa :up:

the area they are building will be more advanced than any place in somalia in terms of looks, sanitation, ect
