Beautifying US Image Overseas!

The US government in the last few years have launched more than dozens of TV Satellites and websites in Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin America mainly to spread a "positive image' in the targeted region.

Al Hurra (ie The Free One http://www.alhurra.com) is among the satellite TV channels that US Government (US Congress) launched in Middle East Region in 2004.

It was stated that

the budget for Alhurra's first year was US$62 million, and $40 million more for an Iraq-specific station. $652 million has been requested for international broadcasting in 2006, which would include specific coverage for European Arabs. "So far, U.S. taxpayers have spent nearly $500 million to fund these broadcasts."

Does anyone know if the US funds similar projects in Africa (other than Voice of America)?

I don't know why the US would need a good PR show for Africa. Most African leaders are beggars addicted to koolaid and beggars cannot be choosers. Btw would you know the one for Latin America?
