Best Investment I have ever made

Post by Executive »

Last year the Dollar/Pound exchange ratio was 2:1, I give some of my savings to a relative who was building properties and selling them on in East Africa. I gave him £2500 and my younger bro another £2500. £5000 in total. We paid him Dollars ($10,000)

He promised at least 50% return. Last week we got our money back $16000 Dollars (we actually got a better return)

At today's exchange rate that equates to £11,000 Pound

From £5000 to £11000 thanks to the fluctations in the exhange rate and the decent return on the property.
So My £2500 is now £5500.

That's called inflation sterling isn't worth much at the moment, even the Bank of England isn't so sure about it's future.

Black velvet

Thats not inflation, Inflation in the UK is about 3%

£100 last year is worth about £103 -£105 today

I would have still had the £2500 if I didn't invest, so the gain is pure profit.

The fear is that it will get a heck of a lot worse so yeah in a few years we just might be using the euro.

Executive - All I'm saying is sterling has depreciated so the money you're talking about is worth less now than it was last year and if things continue this way the value will continue to drop. So perhaps you'd like to consider changing your cash to euros.

I don't understand how Britain is a wealthy country, it doesn't produce anything useful (more import then export), their technology is way behind East Asia, mainland Europe and the States.

Probably their fiefdom of the colonial times and good ties with the US is what made them rich.
