Is it morality or the law of the land? In other words, do you do the right thing because you are scared of the consequence or your conscience tells you it ain't right?

I'm only scared of yoma al aakhira.Maalinta camalkaaga iyo danbigaagi lagu soo hor dhigayo...that what stops me.

I think laws of the land is based on the morality of its society, i believe majority (or minority in some instances) of human beings do not do certain things because of their conscious which tells them not to commit crimes because they have a strong ethics code but there will be always those who might not do bad things not out of that inner sound but because they are afraid to get crushed under the the wheels of law!

laws are merely codified moral ethos.

I like to think that it's a bit of both.....but it is not like we're programmed to know what is moraly right or wrong, so most of the time it is fear of the consequences whether in this life or the next that guides us.
