Crab vs malis

Post by admin »

It is well documented that if you put ONE crab in a deep bucket or jar it will easily climb up and go to the top. But d u know what happens when you put TWO or more crabs in the same bucket? They'll play cool TILL one of them tries to go up and scape. That's when the rest start pulling down the one trying to climb up. Crabs are notoriously known for this bizarre behavior - they will do whatever it takes to make sure no1 escapes the situation.

Familiar? Of course! this behavior is close to that of our ppl. We failed and stayed that way for 20 years. Anyone or group that tries to lead Somalia is pulled down..... Not only that, say anything good about a somali person u'll see more haters than fans..... call that a crab gene in action.

this reminds me of a line that i heard from "catch me if you can"

Frank Abagnale Sr.: Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse, wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Gentlemen, as of this moment, I am that second mouse.

This analogy sounds awfully familiar, yes iminkaan gartay...Prof. A. Samatar once mentioned this in a public debate i attended not long ago. He also mentioned that Clan-ism is not responsible for the situation Somalis find themselves in..admin do you agree with that?

amat - my personal take on somalia is that we discarded our nomadic way of life and didn't embrace imported systems. We are wandering somewhere in between the two.

voltage - I was cleaning some spam off the forum and came across so many negative and hateful posts against innocent somalis and too little positive ones. The crab thing hit me after I saw many arm-chair clan warriors. My question is why do these people who are refugees in other countries still fight among themselves for no apparent reason. It is like shooting each other on a sinking ship.

mataan - pointing out our misgivings and shortcomings doesn't mean self-hate. The point is that we failed as a nation and still fight among ourselves no matter where we are. Are u proud of where we stand today as a nation or ethnic group?

Admin, you're right too be honest when I am personally faced with looking at my own history on this forum, more often then not I'm not proud of things I might have said or positions I might have taken but I guess the positive thing now is I am not in denial so that means its been part of a learning process for me. But specifically I dont get your point about the crabs pulling other crabs down having anythign to do with somali. Do you mean Somalis are by nature xaasids?
