Somalis are "young and poorest Immigrants to U.S" Census rep

The U.S census came out and we feature prominently. I just don't understand why they don't make the distinction that Somalis are REFUGEES meaning the whole nation had to flee whether the poor or rich and that Indians, etc are economic migrants mostly high-skilled who voluntarily moved (the only people who can be allowed to come in from countries like India anyways).

But at the same time, we have alot of faults in this shid, while other immigrant groups swarming colleges to get a degree, barely able to speak english. The newly arrived farah from backhome, who has never seen better days choses to hang out and chill with the crowd.

The high school graduate xaliimo is pressured to get married instead of pursuing higher education she opts to pop kids, and suddenly finds herself a single mother on walfare, the cycle continues and sometimes, I cant help but shake my head sideways.

Advo, dude what you need to realize is Somalis are REFUGEES meaning every old man and woman from every village and city ran for life. We are not seperated. If you have not realized, except for people like us who come from war, the vast overwhelming immigrants to the U.S are expected as economic migrants. No Kenyan can come to the U.S unless he has a PhD and can fill in a quota somewhere, no Indian can come unless he has a Mastars in Information technology, no Chinese is allowed in unless he is a chemistry researcher and no Filipino is allowed unless she is a nurse. These people are sorted, but groups like Somalis, Hmong, etc are refugees and they are the only groups who are allowed to come in poor or rich, educated or illiterate.

You can't compare how Somali immigrants do when compared to Indians because the Indians are sorted and the Somalis are not.

I dont know of the Somalis but the Maakhiris I know were never refugees and are either 2nd/3rd generation. From North America, UK, Arabia Somali refugees have destroyed the image of Somalis Maakhiris had established.

I looked into it sometime back, and nearly puked when I saw what their base pay was: 14 friggin bucks!lol
Then again telemarketers arnt exactly the highest paid people, so I take that back. lol.

The US census has come a long way, when it comes to their classifications, tho. More money def. means more political correctedness. lol. Here's a thing about the census. They are only stats, and are ALWAYS in need of being interp'd!

You are right in that circumstances for immigrant groups differ, and could therefore not be compared to one another side by side. Thing is tho, anyone who isnt a native is considered an immigrant, regardless of what brought them over. Which is why when you break down the groups, you kindah end up with this F'd up sidebyside line. Especially frustrating as this country feels that there is such a "great equality" that everyone can get by using the same means the U.S has to offer (Jobs, education etc.) to their advantage, have the same outcomes. When in reality it MATTERs what country you emigrated from, and what conditioned u'd arrived in, and what the heck you brought with you. The Asians, for example, tend to send the best of their Best to the states. The ones who could actually get out (whether they came from a rich family or an educated one). How the F' could they be compared to a Somali qaxooti then?
