http://www.nature.com/ejhg/journal/v13/ ... 1390a.html Check this site out The European Joirnal of Genetics

"The data suggest that the male Somali population is a branch of the East African population – closely related to the Oromos in Ethiopia and North Kenya – with predominant E3b1 cluster lineages that were introduced into the Somali population 4000–5000 years ago, and that the Somali male population has approximately 15% Y chromosomes from Eurasia and approximately 5% from sub-Saharan Africa"

This means tht majority Somali population are closely related to Oromos and have a very small concentration of Sub-Saharan and Eurasian blood hahahah their goes the mythical claim of being Arab

Somali origins are more complex than that, there are many Somali bloodlines, not just the Cushite/Oromo bloodline but also Bazrangid Persian, Yemeni Arab and a small number of Gurage bloodlines.

Gurage are the descendants of the Axumites who became Muslims after the Hijra. About half of the Gurage were reconquered by Abyssinia after 1300 and are Christians today. Hararis are a Gurage group for instance.

Hajji Ali, the grandson of Xasan Kawayni, married a number of Gurage women and his descendants all speak Gurage which is why Silt'i are considered to be Gurage today rather than Reer Aw-Xasan, who are considered to be Somali.

Basically all Habesha speaking people who either are Muslims or were at some point are considered to be Gurage.

It's the same reason Darood and Isaaq are considered to be Somali, despite having an Arabian lineage.

Come on James u expect me to believe tht language is what stopped the Arabization of Somalis, and also the case of Arab lineage this only holds true for a mini scule percentage of Somali Darods or Isaqs the rest of the clan members being Cushitic Somalis who had adopted these forefathers

Probably yeah, but like I said before, it's very complicated and a lot of the complexity is not very well understood.

James Dahl

your site is getting impressive, I never took you serious in the beginning
but know are marching old paths of previous old white men, like Bradbury, I.M Lewis , and that british guy who went to Berbera burton or something.

In correlation to your research , may I add you seem very passionate about it.
Do you have any geographicla favorite spots in Somaaliweyn?

like name top 3 places you want see with your own eyes and study further.
perhaps even do some groundbreaking discoveries.

The places I'd most like to visit, for their historic value, would be Harar, Zeila and Mogadishu, also Merka, Baraawe and Goldogob.
It would be interesting to try and find the lost city of Shungwaya in Lower Jubba as well.

Interesting Abdihaliim,
Do you mind me asking who your abtiris ends at? And who your 11/12 common match was?
Generations are closer to 32 years than 25 years.
