Do you use Islam to attract the opposite gender ?

Post by Oxy- »

For a long time I have seen/observed many Muslims who seemingly act or even dare I say NON-Islam-like among their friends and as soon as someone from the opposite sex comes along they turn somewhat religious. Now the question is what does this actually mean? Personally I belief that their system/ideology of what it is to be a Muslim is partially distorted.

If Islam is a way of life, then surely you must uphold that decorum in all aspects of your day to day life. A good example here is (and this is very common BTW) when your with your friends and relatives you see them almost all the time and so you don't bother to greet them and say "asalama calaykum" (peace be upon you) but as soon as you see someone from the opposite gender who appears to be somewhat attractive you have no hesitation in saying "asalama calaykum" Why is that?

Surely your nearest and dearest are most deserving of being greeted by saying "asalama calaykum" . Another example being using words like: “Ishallah”, "alxamdulilah" and "Mashallah" much more frequently then you do among kin. Again is this another attempt to use Islam to attract the opposite sex? Do you send emails to the opposite sex about Islam and Hadiths and Quranic verses in order to impress them? Whilst paradoxically avoiding sending it to people you don't see as sexually in your interest (if I may put it so bluntly).

Do you swear and make crude jokes among friends and as soon as that person you fancy comes along, immediately you act modest, lie and say how your very interested in religion? If you're a female when your meeting a guy for whatever reason do you put your hijaab on while most of the time you couldn't care less? If you're a guy do you grow a beard to show people that you've fully submitted yourself to Islam while secretly having a Girlfriend (which is strictly forbidden). I could go on forever with examples but my main aim is to get you aware. Perhaps you might be reading thins and be thinking that you do some of these things. But somehow your not conscious of it.

Islam says: A hypocrite, "Munafiq" is that disbeliever who claims to be a Muslim by the tongue but denies Islam at heart.

Now I know this may sound extreme by then assuming the aspects I described above means henceforth you're a munafiq. No, but perhaps you hold similar characteristics, whereby your completely unaware of. :|

I dont know about the ppl you are talking about.. but when I leave or enter my house I always greet my family with Salaamu Calaikum...the same on the phone with friends and family.

The opposite gender on the other hand... I say.:- hey how you doing and things like that.. so maybe those you saw are the opposite of Cawar.

That is a disturbing thought.

If people do that it's because they know one is more likely to trust someone who is tied to God lying or pretending about how religious you are is just evil...better the devil you know.
