Best restaurants and tourist attractions found in Puntland!

Post by Amethyst »

Let this topic serve as a tourist guide, or reviews from all of you who've gone back home.

Maxaa aragteen aad ka hesheen, ama cunteen back in Puntland? Where is it located, and is it still around (do you think)?
What was the experience, or the environment/surroundings of the place? Who was manning the joint/ do you know the owner?
Sidee lugu soo dhaweeye, as in a local place where everyone knows everyone and vs. a bigger place with diversified people.
Is it female friendly....lol. As in dumar hadaa tahay maka qeyb qaadan kartaa in this activity, ama is there a section for you to eat?

Anyway, come on people, share!. And if you got pics do post them as well  !

Oh, and think beyond restaurants too, and add "things to do there/see before you go back home" lists.

Peace in the African East!

Hehe, Good item!

My top 3

1# Rays Qaboobe in Garowe, it's located near the main city roundabout and close to the W.H.O office.

It has many types of food that are Un-Somai, even strawberries, chocolate soufflés and great fish meals.

2# International village hotel in Bosaso, very well known easy to find.

It has great variety of meals, although a little bit expensive for Puntland standards (8$ per meal, while it is only 3$ everywhere else). But every group of people get their own private space.

3# ''The Pakistani'' in Gaalkacyo, on the same road as Amal bank.

The only place in Puntland with kebab, steak, hamburgers and fries. The place looks a bit dodgy but the food is great.

The place is owned by an Pakistani fugitive (Yeah, huh, REALLY!) that left his country and lives in Puntland for over 12 years. The Pakistani government wants him so bad but the guy considers himself a Puntlander and said this is his new country, lol.

My favourite restaurant would have to be at this hotel In Bosasso owned by a guy from Norway. I forget the name of the hotel but I remember you can eat on top of the roof and get a good view of the city aswell it was near the airport. I remember eating omlets, suqaar, burgers, and he even had an ice cream machine.....in Bosasso.

It was expensive at 100 000 sh. which I don't know how much that translates to ohh and the pasta wasn't regular pasta it was Linguine pasta.

I thought they were professional in taking orders and customer service was great aswell. They have great cappuccino as well with some of the same guys back in Xamar-weyne days.
The food is so good that UN staff and dignatries come out to eat at this place. Hopefully, someone knows the place and add more to this.
