Re: Arap, Habar Awal, Habar Jeclo
Its coz Garxajis is divided. Habar Yonis choose to be addressed by HY and Ciidagale choose to be addressed as Ciidagale, same way sacad muuse and ciise muuse refer to themselves as that instead of Habar Awal.
Btw home come you missed out Ayub, Tol Jecle and Cimraan

Re: Arap, Habar Awal, Habar Jeclo
not really Habar Awal generally refers to themselves as HA, so does Habar Jeclo.
Ayoub
but I've heard Ayoub nowadays since Habar wars go under the HA umbrella ,... in Hargeisa
is'nt Cimraan part of Habar Jeclo?

Same way Ogaaden is Ogaaden, Majeerten is Majeerten, Mareexan is Mareexan, Dhullos is Dhullos etc.....Do you think it makes them bigger if they divide their Names?

Re: Arap, Habar Awal, Habar Jeclo
actually yes
i dont like the feeling, it worries me .
for instance Majeerteen seems so large when people adresse their feuds direct with Cisman Mohamoud ,Ciise Mohamoud , Oumar Mohamoud.

Re: Arap, Habar Awal, Habar Jeclo
Na its just that Garxajis is just scattared all over the place, there is no place you can find them in big numbers... Look at Ogaaden the largest somali tribe is called Ogaaden and thats it, people dont refer them to Makaahil, reer Isaaq, abaaskul ect.. same thing with Majeerten, people say majeerten and not Cumar maxamoud, osman maxmoud etc...
Re: Arap, Habar Awal, Habar Jeclo
i like your point on Ogaaden, it fits good actually
but the garhajis have some recogniseable size in Somaliland four major towns actually...
like Ceergaabo , Burco , Berbera , Hargeysa
they could destablize the whole shit in one day

Re: Arap, Habar Awal, Habar Jeclo
Well, think of Ciidagale as like England and think Habaryoonis like USA. England ruled the USA till the USA decided to take her own destiny into her own hands.
Ciidagale ruled the whole of Isaaq clan from 14 Century. The Ciidagale Suldaan was the grand Suldaan of all Isaaqs, there was no other suldaan. The Ciidagale were the largest clan in terms of population back then. It was them, the Ciidagale, that led the first expansion to the Hawd and West and first captured Hargeysa area from the Cagdheers. Back then, Isaaqs were small tribe who mainly coastal people. The Habarawal were settled in Berbera area, the Habarjeclo in Xiis area and the Habaryoonis settled in Ceerigaabo and northern Sanaag, while Ciidagale (Arab + Ciidagale+some HY) were settled in Sheekh and Burco area.
The word "Ciidagale" was not a tribe's name, it was the name of the army of the coalition which was made up of Garxajis + Arab clans. The Arab clan was bigger than Habarawal in that time as well.
In 16 Century, Habaryoonis revolted the Ciidagale domination and created their own Suldaan effectively ending the Ciidagale coalition. By 17 Century Habaryoonis started to expand against the Dhulmahante in Southern Togdheer and won the Oodweyne area, while the Ciidagale (Arab+ Ciidagale) expanded to Southern Hargeisa (Salaxley, Bali Gubadle etc)... It was during this time that the Habarawal also started moving westward pushing the Gadabuursi out of Gabiley.
By 18 Century, Habaryoonis was the biggest clan and the most powerful Isaaq clan in the country. Habaryoonis extended its reach of rule from Djibouti all the way to Sanaag and deep in the Hawd.
But in mid 18 Century there was a big civilwar between Habaryoonis clan. The civilwar led to great migration of Habaryoonis clan in all directions. Isaxaaq migrated to Hargeisa, Musa Cabdale migrated to Berbera and most other Habaryoonis in Sanaag and Sool.
During this time, there was no town called Burco or Hargeisa. The biggest trading towns were Berbera, Oodweyne and Sheekh. Later in the 18 Century Salaxley was created, then Burco then Hargeisa in that order.
In mid 18 Century Habaryoonis expanded into the Kilka Shanaad. We captured Gaashaamo, Darood and Moholin from Daaroods. The Ciidagale on their part captured many new areas.
The Arab got their independence from the Ciidagale in mid 19 Century. Their independence leader was the great Farax Nuur.
So to answer your question, Habaryoonis and Ciidagale have a long history of being independent of each other and they have very different interests.
