Al khatba (arabic) is profession for middle aged woman/older women who hook up couple seeking marriage. The Khatba will sit down with men/women and get to know them very well on personal level and then try to find their mates. This method was used by urban/rural residents, both rich and poor classes. But nowadays since the internet pops up each second that passes single/marriage sites, this profession is being threatened to disappear.
I am wondering does our Somali culture know of the matchmaker?
If you were seeking to settle down, would you be interested to call a matchmaker?
Would you trust online matchmaking sites, Somali Singles for one?
Have you ever tried yourself to be a matchmaker?
