How to solve the water crisis in some parts of Sanaag?

Post by Ahmed-Gurey »

The topography is mountaineous, hence scarcity of water is very common.

How can we overcome the water crisis. Should we adopt desalination technology, allow people move to Calmadoow and Daalo Mts and build canals there from tributaries following from the peak of the mountains like Galgala.

The water shortage is a crisis. Ceels are short term solutions and the diaspora investing in them will only curve the crisis temporarily ex. Cowsane. The problem with the diaspora mindset is if other Somalis haven't adopted more advanced, useful and longterm ways of alleviating water shortage, they assume its not do able. Adopting feasible longterm ways of maximizing water supply either through desalination or other ways besides digging for ground water is the only way for Sanaag and Bari to solve this crisis.

The water shortage that is occuring all over the north-east requires cooperation response. It costs about $500 000-1 million dollars to invest into cloud seeding technology. Cloud seeding technology is excellent initiave that has proven to work in arid and drought prone areas. What it does is u get small plane and seeder vaccum and go up into the sky and blow acid into the clouds. Rain comes 90% success rate. The only fall-back to it is. Clouds must be present and i have noticed Puntland region seems to have clouds alot. And secondly the cost is about $500 000-1 million that includes buying the small plane, purchasing of seeds, payment of staff who will work under the new firm.

Desalination plants are definitely a key measure also but untill the oil sector starts happening such big investment can not be thought about just yet. So for now cloud seeding is alternative, and desalination plants a future solution when Puntland economy picks up with the help of the oil sector which will open up many new sectors inshallah also. If they don't stuff it up that is.

So yeah u should all read about cloud-seeding. I been studying it believe me.
