Don't You Feel Good!

When every time you meet people and your Dad's name is mentioned, people give you extra respect  Alxamdu Lilaah..

When Somalis from all different clans respect and love your dad equally, isn't that amazing? Wallaahay I feel blessed every time.. Alxamddu Lilaah again  :rose:

You know whatever role you played in your society will be reflected in the future generations and the way they will treat your children and whoever have your name...

As the saying goes..Waari Mayside War Hakaa Hadho...

I hate When People try to associate me with My Dad. I wanna earn my own credentials and respect build my own profile. Who cares what they think of My father or Mother. Let them charge me of what I am. I have my own opinion and that is what I would like to go with that.

Kambuli, I usually hide it (who my parents are). There something lovely about being obscure, with that said I am proud of my father. :rose:

In a way it is lovely, in a way it is not. Every person should pave their own road, they shouldn't rely on their parents name/ or being linked to someone known to get somewhere in life. I encourage people to make their own name (if thats what they want). It can be a negative too, especially if your parents weren't good people, the kids might be ostracized in society (I'm probably going too deep here )

Salaam

Warsan,

I concur about remaining anonymous which is easy if you avoid certain areas & if you don't mention your father's nickname.

But I will never forget when I used to be a Long distance Artist when this woman's poppa knew my fam very well. I basically got the green light as he was relieved I was a fellow tribesman

AW;

Yaroow, you are confusing me on purpose here. I'm not sure what you mean.

Alhamdulilah my father has no nickname. It is harder to hide my mother actually, she doesn't have such a random surname. One of those many 'Ow' that Abgaals have. Why do we love OW so much? Aniga I OW everything Issa-ow, Basra-ow, Kaha-ow. :|

Salaam

My father is not that famous but he is known by everybody from BuRCO or somaliland...

I'm very reluctant to share my surname with strangers, because they will react negative or positive..

Warsan,

I will never forget that Odeey. he was a cool guy walle. We instantly bonded after he knew who I was  That Odeey was a really cool guy unfortunately his daughter took after her mother, a horrible woman,

I wish I had more authentic Somali names than Arab ones. I will name all my kids with the most authentic Somali names know. I am gonna search the countryside for good, solid names that give them a unique identity.

Babygirl,

My Awowe was a famous Suufi wadaad. I was once hanging out with some Ikhwan trying to help out some people in Mudug when during the conference call I hear, "ADeer, ma ina Sheik ******* ba ku dhaley. Adeerow, maxa ku baray bidacda Akhwanka, Awowega Sheik **** (AUN) wuxu aha nin laga duceeysto, mandow ka fogow Akhwanta."
