The other day, I left a note or a two on ongoing discussion about a certain word. One of the members quoted couple verses from the Quran as a proof for something he was arguing for. I, since I can say I know Arabic, offered my explanation to what I thought of the given verses meant adding that I will later on check if there is any historical background that the verse might be talking about and that I might not be aware of.
Later, I did as I said I will do and as a matter of fact the explanation that I found given by the scholars was not that far from what I initially thought.
Now, one of the honorable members here in that same thread accused me that I have some political reasons. Lord, that has been the funniest thing that a person has ever said to me, all of sudden, I have a hidden agenda and political reasons because my explanation differs from his and I didn’t please his taste of ideas.
That person reminded me of this incident: there is this ayah (ayah 33) from Surah Al-Rahman, the ayah says: Bismilahi al Rahman al Rahim:
“Yaa ma’asharal al jinni wal al insi in istata’atum an tanfidhuu min aqtaari alsamawati wal alardi fa’infidhuu, laa tanfidhuna illa bi Sultan”

“O you Jins and humans, if you can penetrate the outer limits of the heavens and the earth, go ahead and penetrate. You cannot penetrate without authorization.”
I heard from resources that some people in the Saudi Kingdom went a step further and spread a propaganda saying the Sultan that Allah has mentioned in the verse is nothing but the current Prince Sultan bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud. Now since his name is Sultan and the ayah mentions the word sultan, an illiterate Bedouin might indeed fall for this and take it to the heart as the truth but of course anyone who can read and write would understand that the word here sultan means nothing but power, or Allah’s power swt.
I would not argue with anyone who says that whoever spread that propaganda has indeed some hidden agenda and has without doubt political reasons but to accuse the person who has correctly explained the verse and taint his character is nothing but a foolish act for a person who doesn’t accept the idea that he can be wrong and that he can be prone to make mistakes just like the rest of human beings. If such person thinks of himself as infallible, I for one would not be surprised to see this person tomorrow saying I am God, I am your truly WaQ of CocoJambo so worship me.
Making mistakes is a part of who we are and how we learn, no one is infallible, but to make a mistake and recognize it makes a whole difference because now you are on the path to the real knowledge.
As a wise man once said a person must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them.
