I never noticed the similarity between six and lix. But some of those like Buug are borrowed English words and then some aren't. Its really interesting islayn and slain sound alike.

Re: Somali Words that resemble English Words!!
You do realize that upwards of 30% of Somali words are ARABIC.
And around that same percentage of English words are Spanish words borrowed from ARABIC.
You'd be ridiculously surprised how much the modern English language borrows from other languages. Its often noted that all major English terms are Arabic terms that passed through the Spanish language.
Words like chemistry, algebra, alcohol, caliber, cipher, hazard, mafia, mattress, massage, orange, sofa, zero, sugar, magazine, candy, amber, alkali.
The list is endless. Lets just say that every English word that consists of 4 or more letters has a 70% chance of being an Arabic-root term.
Somali and English have one thing in common - they borrow from other languages. For example, the term Thug is from Hindi, which both Somali and English claim as their own. There are countless languages that English and Somali borrow from.

Cali-gaab you don't see the resemblance between these words?Cali_Gaab wrote:LIbaax iyo Lion?

Far iyo Finger?
Why are you giving us translations?
Not only do these words have the same meaning, but also start with the same letter.
Finger starts with "f" and and ends with "r", same way, the word finger in Somalia is Far, it starts with "F" and ends with "R"
so on and so forth!
