The 'ethnic' skin-whitening market around the world is decentralized as well being covert. This is because many of the skin-whitening products which target poor women, particularly black women, including women of colour living in North America and Europe, are relatively cheap but often contain highly toxic chemical agents such as mercury, hydroquinone and corticosteroids.

In Europe and North America, the 'ethnic" skin-whitening products are usually sold in 'ethnic-oriented' grocery stores and "beauty" salons. Many of these low end' but toxic skin-whitening products are manufactured in the Third World and are imported both legally and illegally to North America and Europe. Even though the western health authorities are well aware of the health risks associated with these toxic skin-whitening products they have taken very littlem if any, action to control their importation or to regulate their sales.

sis zul, obviously u did not read yesterday's news/discussion. u can still find it in the 2nd or 3rd page. It is the SOMALI KIDS in Minneapolis, not the whites who have an alarming rate of autism cases. More white kids must have it because somalis are less than 1% of the population but THE RATE is way up among Somalis.

if the demand for these products weren't so high no pharmacuetical company would ever think about developing skin bleaching products. this industry doesn't care about whether some females skin gets ruined or not, it's the money that drives them. as long as the demand is out there, there will be money to be made from these products.so, maybe it's time to change the perception we have of "dark skin" rather than start with the pharm industry and it's many products?

forget the health problems, these products smell like shit too. i once worked with an african girl that used to apply that shit a lot and on the days that i was hungry and haven't had a breakfast, i use to struggle not to throw up. it is funny because i find their un-natural skin tone disgusting but then there are men like emperior and others that were praising women like that on here on somalinet.
