Quarter system is crap, good news that they are getting rid of it.

Ohio State University will switch to a semester system in fall 2012 or later, becoming the last of the state’s public four-year schools to get trustee approval for the move.

Trustees voted unanimously Friday for the switch from a quarter system, in place since 1922. The transformation allows faculty and leadership to radically rethink the entire Ohio State curriculum, adding greater depth to courses, Provost Joseph Alutto said. It also brings the school in line with calendars of the rest of the University System of Ohio, study-abroad programs and the needs of corporate recruiters for jobs and internships.

Voltage, most majors are 50 credit hours. i did a double major and honestly i finished within 4 quarters

I am at a quarter school and the overwhelming majority of majors are require 90 credits for that major.

12 credits is enrolled full time per quarter

Most people take 15

3 quarters in a year

3 * 15 = 45 credits per year

45 * 4 = 180 credits to graduate

180 / 2 = 90 quarters per major

90 quarters = 6 quarters = 2 years for the major

The other two years are mostly taken by fulfilling School requirements.

ur including the gec's saxiib, im not talkin about the first two years in which you do ur general classes. im talkin about when u actually get to ur major. on average major courses are 48-50 at OSU. and 12 credit hours is the mininum for full time classes. we can take up to 25 (around 5 classes) credit hours a quarter. and so if u take about 4 classes a quarter u can get done within 3 quarters.

Semester is a lot better. You only gotta worry about finals twice a year and you don't have to always get new material clamped down on you

Quarter system is similar to one session summer courses at Universities that follow the semester system. You don't learn shit! You only do it for the credit.
