The guy who led them was this reer Kooshin man called something Shabeel. But I am sure there were more Marehans than those two although I think they did take the brunt.

My immediate family lost tons of people in those wars wallahi. Many marehan families returned to the south in 1980s from the north.

Coolp,

All marehan subclans were part of Darvishes, the Commander of Central Dervish units was reer Ahmed Guy who lastly had beef with Zayidka and moved to Gedo around year 1910

Incorrect, truthfully, some were against the movement, others in favour, and some neutral. Mahdi, the Reer Axmed guy you are talking about, named Shire Jaamac, used to be his deputy untill he opposed him and moved to the south during the Galti migration.

Both two men were amongst the Mareexaan Darwiish ranks, Shabeel Carab (Reer Kooshin) and Xirsi Akal (Reer Warfaa).

There was another guy, who even though he did not partake in the actual armed struggle, he was Sayyid's primary delegate when meeting with clans. His name was Diiriye Caytan (Dhuurcase grandfather). The revolutionary government use to use him as the primary source for collecting Darwiish accounts. He was around 120 when he died in the early 80's.

i am not trying to be naive but wasnt all Marexan part of the Darwish, my grandmother told me he use to forcefully recruit and in many cases kill dozen of men apposing him and then he would loot the village, he Killed my great grand fathers brothers because they didnt want to fight along side him but then some of them would still follow him on his cause :| but back in those days this was obviously the norm, and the position could easily change to favor one over the other

Mahdi, you are talking about Shire Jaamac. He was leading the Galti migration that was escaping the British onslaught.
