They have been forced to stop ignoring Somalia.

All their really concern about are the pirates; not once has the US Sec. mention the vast trawlers illegally sailing into Somalia's unprotected waters whom forced Somalis who depend on the sea to go on pirating.

Who cares about the fish, it's not like Somalis were going to take advantage of it for commercial purposes anyway. Understand the diplomatic tone laid down by Hillary. The U.S is now ready to help Somalia.

Voltage, what measures do you believe America will take that will help Somalia?

I've watched that video and from what i gather America will put pressure on the leaders of the TFG aswell as Puntland to take actions against the piracy trade. They now know for certain where their bases lie and the regions they hail from.

"...we will press Puntland authorities......", this sounds like a 'do as you're told or else' situation. The only way in which they shall help Somalia is by giving them a few boats and small funds for local police to monitor these bases and a few miles of sea, if not they shall deal with the pirates themselfs on somali soil, hence the above quotation by Hilary.

However, i do understand that they need a stable government in place in Somalia but i do not see this from happening anytime soon.

-Participating in Somalia funding/peace-keeping meeting in Brussels
-Working with the TFG.
-Providing alternatives for Somali youth/pirates

If you don't know how the U.S government works, you will not be able to read between the lines.

The only good thing that came out of this whole piracy is, Somalia caught the world's attention again which we desperately need.

They're just looking out for their own interests. No one really gives a rat's ass about Somalia.

The fact of the matter is, the US and everyone else will be serious about Somalia when Somalis become serious about Somalia.

why are u so obsessed with the US "noticing" somalia, no 1 wants them there other than dabadhilif. Do you think they can afford to send in troops to fight Shabaab and Hizbul Islam in a never ending guerilla war like Iraq and Afghanistan?


Somalia was amazingly peaceful with the Islamic courts, the fact is that the US destroyed the peace to hell with them....

Its not about helping Somalia... its just trying to get rid of one big inconvenience to their interests

and the troops are stretched thin so they can't do anything but do air strikes which Obama this past weekend refused to do
